-Recording the highest viewership with appearance of YG Family as judges

“WHO IS NEXT : WIN” (“WIN”), a survival show to YG Entertainment’s new boy band, recorded the “best one minute” in its viewership, with the appearance of YG Family members who gathered to judge the first performance battle between Team A and Team B.

The highest viewer rating was recorded thanks to the appearance of YG’s head producer Yang Hyun Suk, Big Bang’s Taeyang and G-Dragon who mentored Team A and B respectively, as well as Big Bang’s Top, Dae Sung, Seungri, and 2NE1’s CL, Bom, Dara, and Minzy, who appear on TV after a long time, in “WIN” Episode 5.

According to viewer rating institution Nielson Korea, the viewer rating of the show recorded the highest surpassing 1%, during a minute when YG’s leading singers appeared after a long time as cool-headed judges to evaluate “WIN” members’ performances

.Plus, the viewership among teenage girls and women in their twenties was found out to be overwhelmingly highest.

In the show on the day, members of Team A (Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo, Lee Seung Hoon, Nam Tae Hyun, and Gang Seung Yoon) and Team B (B.I, Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yoon Hyung, Goo Jun Hwe, and Kim Dong Hyuk) looked excited and nervous about their first battle, and they peeped into the other team, when checking their channel of movement on the stage and starting a dry rehearsal.

The members of Team A seemed to be quite surprised by Team B’s performance and said, “They are our rival but definitely good. We are very surprised. They can be complacent because they have been wining so far. But they are not, and showing awesome new passion and skills every day.”

Then, Team B demonstrated confidence, saying, “We began to enjoy performing on the stage after mentoring.”, “We are nervous but more excited than worried.”, and “You can think of our past performances as appetizer.”

Notably, at the end of the episode, Seungri and Top appeared and gave cutting critique, “You are too expressionless”, and “You seem to have chosen the wrong song. It was unsophisticated.”, respectively, which triggered high expectations for “WIN”’s first performance which will be aired in the next episode.

Meanwhile, “WIN” is aired on Fridays at 10 pm on Mnet and at 11:20 pm on tvN in a row. The show has been aired in more than 10 Asian countries as well, starting from the 17 (Tue.) this month, on STAR TV’s cable Channel V and CJ E&M’s Southeast Asian subsidiary Channel M.

In China, the show is exclusively aired on Youku, the biggest local video-streaming site, and it has been creating sensation in the country, recording one million views for Episode 1 and 4.

Plus, “WIN” is live broadcasted on the mobile application of DAUM, where replay and behind story of the show are serviced.

BIGBANG’s TAEYANG, who is in charge of Team A (Kang Seung Yoon, Lee Seung Hoon, Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo and Nam Tae Hyun), unleashed his full charisma on ‘WIN’.

The program that was aired on Sept 20 is YG Entertainment’s real survival program “WHO IS NEXT: WIN” by Mnet.

TAEYANG, after watching Team A perform, commented, “It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. All I could see is your strong will to show the audience something. Your performance left no room to breathe.” He added, “I think the result from the last competition is affecting all of you. You are under immense pressure to show the audience something, and you’re trying too hard. You showed a lot of things but nothing sticks to mind. If 80% consists of something you came up with, then it would be more entertaining to show something already known to the public in the remaining 20%.”

Before going face to face with TAEYANG, Team A seemed extremely excited. Song Min Ho commented, “It’s like meeting a celebrity,” while Lee Seung Hoon said, “It was great that he pointed out exactly what we needed to improve.”

‘WIN’ is a real survival program that divides YG’s 11 trainees into Teams A and B for an extremely fierce battle. G-DRAGON’s such comment was delivered to the contestants after the final rehearsal, to encourage Team B to win on ‘WHO IS NEXT: WIN’, YG Entertainment’s real survival program that was aired on Mnet on Sept 20.

The episode aired on the day showed TAEYANG and G-DRAGON each being in charge of Team A (Kang Seung Yoon, Lee Seung Hoon, Song Min Ho, Kim Jin Woo and Nam Tae Hyun) and Team B (B.I., Koo Joon Hoe, Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yoon Hyung and Kim Dong Hyuk) respectively. B.I., who is arousing much attention with his remarkable talents on YG Entertainment’s survival program ‘WHO IS NEXT: WIN’, is yet again drawing attention from the public with his hidden charms.

His newly revealed charm is completely different from what he has been showing on the program, which was all about being a serious and charismatic leader of Team B—cute and bubbly. The behind-the-scenes revealed on Daum Portal Mobile App was filled with his cute and vivacious charms, which grabbed the attention of the public at once.

B.I., a then 14-year old boy rapper who left the audience awe-struck back when he was rapping for MC Mong’s ‘Indian Boy’, is now a grown-up leader of Team B on ‘WIN’. As the leading member, he is once again in the center of the public attention.

He has positioned himself as one of the most memorable contestants on ‘WIN’, and Yang Hyun Suk (founder of YG Entertainment) once commented, “He is an absolute well-rounder who is excellent in rapping, choreography, and music in general. He is going to be the 2nd G-DRAGON.” The ex-contestant of Superstar K, KANG SEUNG YOON, also complimented his talents by commenting, “He always hurts my pride.”

In the behind-the-scenes that was revealed on Sept 20, Team B members (B.I., Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yoon Hyung, Koo Jun Hoe, and Kim Dong Hyuk) were competiting against each other in a quiz session to get chocolate as a prize and do a comical dance as a dare.

B.I.’s usual charismatic self vanished, while a bubbly and playful character replaced it. In a competition against Kim Dong Hyuk, the ‘brain’ of Team B, B.I. got the highest number of questions right and won chocolate.

And rivaling against Song Yoon Hyung, the king of comical dance, B.I. once again revealed his playful and alluring comical dance.

WIN is aired every Friday from 10p.m. on Mnet and 11:20p.m. on tvN. It is also drawing huge attention from abroad and has been airing in 10 different Asian countries from Sept 17, including on STAR TV-related channel V and East Asia’s CJ E&M channel M.

Youku, the largest video-sharing website in China streams the show exclusively. Episodes 1 and 4 raked in 1 million viewers already, proving its extreme popularity. Korea’s Daum portal site will provide replay and behind-the-scenes services while also streaming it live.
